Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th

Zermatt, Switzerland to Cannes, France to Monte Carlo, Monaco to Cannes, France

Another early wake up for our train to Cannes, France which is in the French Riviera. We left Zermatt at 7:30a.m.. The scenery was amazing with the different mountain ranges, rivers flowing through them and the little houses from early 1900's.

We went from Zermatt to Visp and from there to Geneva where we had a 2 hour gap before our next train. We walked around and had lunch. As we got ready to go through customs for our train into Lyon, France I realized I didn't have my EU rail pass and the train was leaving in 15. (train pass for tourists. Cheapest and easiest way for tourists to get around by train.)

Just like when I missed my flight to Amsterdam, I was aggravated at my house. After frantically searching, we went to the lost and found and luckily enough for me someone has turned it in. After sprinting back to the correct platform and going trough customs, we made the train with only 2 minutes to spare.

We got into Cannes around 9:30 and we walked to the apartment that we were supposed to stay at. When we arrived we realized we had no idea which apartment number and the name of the person we were staying at wasn't on the tenants list. We asked someone for directions and lucky again for us, he spoke English. He sent an email to the contact we were staying with because our phones don't work because we don't have an international plan. He told us to go to McDonald because they have free wifi. After walking back and forth 3 times from McDonald's to the apartment and not being able to find our contact, we gave up.

We drank a few bottles of wine and explored what Cannes had to offer. (massive yachts, some awesome hillside views of the sea and the beach). Around 12 we were approached by a man asking if we wanted to go to his club. We walked the 2 blocks to the club, went inside and realized it was a strip club. Both Mike and I have never been to one and the girls were quite scary looking. We both had a beer and got out of there. We explained to the guy that brought us there that we didn't have a hotel and he took us to a couple of them until someone let us book a room. We stayed at Hotel Du Nord, with no shower in the room and only a sink we thought it was quite odd.

We woke up Tuesday morning at 9a.m. and we went back to the apartment that we were supposed to stay at. The guy at the front desk took us to a hallway and told us to knock on a few doors because she lived in one of them. We knocked on 4 doors and we didn't find the right person.

We left for Monaco around 12:30 and walked around there for a few hours. Another gorgeous place, right on the sea with more elegant yachts. The views all of the city were amazing.

I found myself thinking of how lucky I really am to be able to travel to such amazing places. Life is great.
